Russia and Ukraine war live from the heart of the event
Today, Sunday, local official in Kharkiv, Oleg Senegubov, announced that the second largest Ukrainian city has returned to the control of Ukrainian forces, a few hours after he announced the arrival of the Russian army to the city center.
"Kharkiv is under our complete control," Senegubov wrote on social networks, stressing that the process of "expelling the enemies from the city" was underway.
The Ukrainian government had confirmed earlier that Russian forces stormed Kharkiv, the country's second largest city in terms of population, after fierce battles.
Videos spread on the Internet documented scenes of clashes with light and medium weapons between Russian soldiers who stormed the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and its defenders.
And a video of what appeared to be Ukrainian soldiers appeared in the shooting, before one of them advanced and fired 3 RPGs towards a nearby target, where the Russian forces appeared to be holed up.
There were military vehicles parked in the middle of the road, while the streets were empty of cars and pedestrians.
